St. Mary's Knights of Columbus Blog (Council #4264) - Oct 6 2024 Update
Our Mission
Serve St. Mary’s parish and our community, help care for fellow Knights and their families, and work together to help men grow in faith and make us better men, fathers, sons, brothers, and friends.
Notes from Oct 3 Business
Meeting
Call for nominations for
the Werner Spodat Father of the Year Award - presented
during our annual Christmas / New Year’s Party.
Please be ready to submit your nomination at the next business meeting.
Annual Christmas/New Year’s
Party – last year we had our Christmas party in January. We discussed our plans for this upcoming
Christmas season and there were no strong opinions either way. Please look at your calendars, discuss with
your wife, and let’s determine a date at the next meeting.
Men’s Faith Formation – we’re looking to form a small group of men that will create a program (or several programs) to inspire all men of our parish to pursue their Catholic faith. The Knights of Columbus offers a framework called COR (which is latin for heart). Please see link below:
Cor Training Videos (kofc.org)
Another framework is a program called “That Man is You”.

Please send John an email
at Knights@stmarysjc.org if you are
interested in getting a program off the ground.

Visit Stan Grocki – he is currently confined to his house
due to medical issues. Please
Volunteer for a weekly time slot at the Adoration Chapel
Join the rosary before the 10AM Mass or other masses. If a group is not already established at your

Pro-Life News
40 Days for Life – St. Mary’s Knights will
meet at the Bristol VA abortion clinic Thursday Oct 10 at 11AM for prayer. Please stay on the public sidewalks. Do not park in the clinic parking lot.
Cookies for Prison Ministry – Needed by Oct. 13 - support our
Prison Ministry at the Northeast Correctional Complex in Mountain City by
baking and delivering cookies to St. Mary’s church gathering area kitchen.
Hard to believe, but this ministry helps to change lives.
Guidelines: No Fruit, no nuts
and no candy, except for chocolate chips. No sugar, sprinkles or frosting
on top. Round Cookies only. No bars or irregular shapes.
Types of Cookies permitted: Sugar,
Molasses, Peanut butter, Chocolate chip (preferred) or Oatmeal (no raisins).
How to deliver your cookies:
Please put 12 cookies in a bag, in a “roll” (like Ritz crackers) in a gallon
size plastic bag (taping the end of the bag works well) – this makes sure they
don’t get to the prison as just crumbs. Do not write on the bags.
Take a few minutes and listen a new song considered to be
the Pro-Life anthem sung by Rachel Holt.
